TheJobKart brings you the complete details of the UPPSC RO ARO Online Form 2026. The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has opened applications for Review Officer and Assistant Review Officer posts, along with a few related posts, under the Samiksha Adhikari / Sahayak Samiksha Adhikari Etc. Examination-2026. This is one of the most awaited graduate-level examinations in Uttar Pradesh, because it leads to respected secretariat and commission-office posts with strong pay and a clear career path.
Read the headline figure carefully. The total is 501 posts, but this is not a recruitment for Review Officers alone. The largest share is for Assistant Review Officers, followed by Review Officers, account posts and four small UPPSC-office posts. This post gives the full post-wise and department-wise breakup, so you can see exactly which post fits your qualification before you choose your preferences.
The application window is already open and it is not a long one. Online applications started on 26 October 2026 and the last date to apply and pay the fee is 26 November 2026, so candidates should complete their One Time Registration well in advance and not leave the form for the final day.

Vacancy Details
The 501 posts are spread across four employers: the Uttar Pradesh Secretariat, the UPPSC office itself, the Board of Revenue, and the Office of the Advocate General. The Secretariat alone accounts for 420 posts, which is why most candidates will be looking at Secretariat posts first.

In short: 131 Review Officers, 31 Review Officers (Account), 329 Assistant Review Officers, 6 Assistant Review Officers (Account) under Special Recruitment, and 4 small UPPSC-office posts. The notification also notes that the vacancy number can still go up or down if requisitions for other posts of the same nature and qualification reach UPPSC before the preliminary result, so candidates should check the official website for any update.
What a Review Officer and an Assistant Review Officer do
A Review Officer works at secretariat level, examining files, preparing noting and drafting, handling official correspondence and records, and putting up cases for senior officers. Much of the work is in Hindi, and accuracy, drafting skill and file discipline matter more than speed alone.
An Assistant Review Officer works in the same section system, supporting Review Officers with file work, correspondence, noting, computer work and record-keeping. It is the natural feeder post for the Review Officer cadre, and it is the post with the largest number of vacancies in this cycle.
Category-wise Vacancy Details
The overall category breakup for all 501 posts, as published in the detailed vacancy tables, is:

Who Can Apply? Eligibility Criteria
Educational qualification
The basic qualification for most posts is a bachelor’s degree, but the computer and typing conditions are post-specific and they decide eligibility just as much as the degree does. All qualifications must be complete by the last date, 26 November 2026. Candidates still appearing in the qualifying examination are not eligible.
| Post | Essential qualification, as reported |
|---|---|
| Review Officer / Assistant Review Officer β U.P. Secretariat, Board of Revenue, UPPSC | Bachelor’s degree from a university established by law in India, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government, plus an ‘O’ Level certificate awarded by DOEACC / NIELIT or an equivalent qualification, plus a minimum speed of 25 words per minute in Hindi typewriting. For UPPSC posts, a Diploma in Computer Science is also accepted in place of ‘O’ Level. English typing is preferred. |
| Assistant Review Officer β Office of the Advocate General | Bachelor’s degree, plus ‘O’ Level (NIELIT) or equivalent, plus Hindi typing on computer at 25 words per minute. Good English typing is preferred. |
| Review Officer (Account) / Assistant Review Officer (Account) β U.P. Secretariat | Bachelor’s degree in Commerce with Accountancy, or an equivalent qualification including a graduate-level CA / ICWA qualification, plus ‘O’ Level in Computer Application from a Government-recognised institute, plus knowledge of Hindi written in Devanagari script. |
| Receptionist (Swagati) β UPPSC | Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with History, Geography, English Literature, Anthropology or Architecture as one of the subjects at degree level, plus good knowledge of Hindi. |
| Manager / Care-Taker / Store Keeper β UPPSC | Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. Preferential qualifications in hotel management / catering, horticulture, accounts, administrative or store experience are listed post-wise in the notification. |
A general preference, other things being equal, is given for two years of service in the Territorial Army or an NCC ‘B’ certificate. This is preferential, not a substitute for the degree or the computer and typing requirements.
Age limit
- Minimum age: 21 years, for all posts
- Maximum age: 40 years, for general candidates
- Age counted as on: 1 July 2026
The date-of-birth range for general and EWS candidates, and candidates from other states, is broadly 2 July 1986 to 1 July 2005. Relaxation, as reported, includes:
| Category | Maximum age, as reported |
|---|---|
| General / EWS / other states | 40 years |
| SC / ST / OBC of Uttar Pradesh, skilled players of Uttar Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh state government employees (including Basic Shiksha Parishad and aided Madhyamik teachers / staff) | 45 years |
| Persons with disabilities of Uttar Pradesh | 55 years |
| Ex-army personnel / ECO / SSCO of Uttar Pradesh | 3 years, plus the period of army service |
| Research scholars of the Chief Minister Fellowship Programme | 1 to 3 years, with extra weightage marks in the mains as given below |
Only one relaxation β the most beneficial one β applies if a candidate claims more than one. Candidates should check the exact date-of-birth table for their category in the official notification, because the relaxation rules are category-specific and domicile-specific.
Other important conditions
- One Time Registration (OTR) is compulsory. Candidates must obtain their OTR number at least 72 hours before applying, through otr.pariksha.nic.in.
- Category, sub-category, domicile, gender, date of birth, EWS status, creamy-layer status, name and address are taken from the OTR as they stand on the last date. A change made in OTR must be synchronised on the Candidate Dashboard.
- The qualification part of a submitted application can be modified only once, up to 3 December 2026.
- Candidates must meet the post-specific physical and medical requirements, if prescribed, at the later stages.

About UPPSC
The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission, based in Prayagraj, is the constitutional body that recruits for Group A and Group B posts and for several important Group C posts in the Uttar Pradesh government. Its examinations are known for a strong emphasis on Hindi, drafting and Uttar Pradesh-specific knowledge, alongside general studies.
The Review Officer and Assistant Review Officer examination is one of the Commission’s flagship secretariat examinations. It is different from the UPPSC Combined State / Upper Subordinate Services (PCS) examination: RO / ARO is a secretariat-office examination, with its own syllabus, drafting paper and Hindi essay paper, and it leads to office-based posts in the Secretariat, the Commission, the Board of Revenue and the Advocate General’s office.
Why This Recruitment Stands Out
For graduates in Uttar Pradesh, this is a rare combination: 501 posts in a single examination, Level 7 and Level 8 pay for the main RO and ARO posts, and a selection process with no interview, where the mains written examination decides the final merit. The preliminary examination is only a screening test, so a strong mains performance β especially in General Studies, Hindi drafting and the Hindi essay β matters most.
At the same time, the eligibility conditions are stricter than a simple graduation requirement. The ‘O’ Level computer qualification and the 25 words per minute Hindi typing condition for RO and ARO posts mean that candidates should check their computer and typing certificates before applying, not after the preliminary examination. The OTR rule is equally important: an OTR number obtained less than 72 hours before applying can itself become a reason for delay.
